Maltese Rescue
I
am only one,
But still I am
one.
I cannot do everything,
But
still I can do something;
And because I cannot
do everything
I will not refuse to do the
something that I can do.

Sunny's Story
A Hurting Dog Gets a New
Home!
Woooof! Hi, I'm Happy Sundog and this is
my story:
I was born about June 25th, 1996. My first
owners didn't know much about how to take care of a dog.
They didn't know that my ears needed to be cleaned
regularly or they would become infected. My ears hurt so
much that I wouldn't let anyone pat my head! It was even
hard to sleep.
My original owners realized that they couldn't care for me
properly and asked CoCo to look after me. CoCo took me to
see his vet and she flushed my ears and gave me medicine.
Soon, I began to feel much better. Then I began my
training!
There has been so much to learn! First, I had to learn
about where to go to the bathroom. This was difficult for
me, and it took several months to get it right.
Fortunately, CoCo is very patient! Lately, I have been
going to Deborah Wolfe's Perfect Pet Care Doggy School. The
teacher says I am very good at "sit." I like to play fetch,
and I usually come when I'm called. I don't like "heel"
very much, though. I want to be the leader of the pack!
I just had my first birthday! It's been a big first year.
I'm a healthy and happy boy. I was only 4 pounds when I met
CoCo, but I've grown to 11 pounds (5 kg) and now I'm bigger
than him! I'm not fat, though! The vet says I am like a
tank and I have a greyhound's waist. My ears are all better
and I've had an operation to fix an umbilical hernia. I'm
also neutered. I have a really cool tattoo and microchip to
make sure I can find my way home should I get lost some
day. I even have a job. I keep the house safe. I growl like
a Rottweiler to scare off predators!
